Seawall Toe Survey — Detecting Scour & Undermining

What is Seawall Toe Survey?

KCC carries out detailed inspection and measurement of seawall toe structures to identify scour, undermining, block displacement, and cavity formation. The seawall toe is the most vulnerable part of the structure — scour here can lead to progressive failure of the entire seawall.

What's Included

  • Diver inspection of seawall toe from seabed level
  • Measurement of toe level and comparison against design level
  • Identification of scour holes, undermining, and cavity formation
  • Assessment of block displacement and armour stone stability
  • Bathymetric survey of seabed adjacent to seawall toe
  • Formal report with scour assessment and recommendations

Why This Matters

Scour at the seawall toe removes the support for the seawall face — and can lead to progressive failure of the entire structure. Early detection through regular toe surveys allows remediation to be planned and carried out before the situation becomes critical.
