Anode Consumption Survey — Planning Your Next Replacement Programme

What is Anode Consumption Survey?

KCC carries out diver inspection and measurement of sacrificial anodes to assess consumption rates and remaining service life. Results are used to plan anode replacement programmes and ensure that cathodic protection is maintained throughout the design life of the structure.

What's Included

  • Diver inspection of all anodes on the structure
  • Measurement of anode dimensions (length, width, thickness) to calculate remaining mass
  • Assessment of anode condition including cracking, detachment, and consumption pattern
  • Calculation of consumption rate and remaining service life
  • Recommendations for anode replacement programme

Why This Matters

Sacrificial anodes have a finite service life — and when they are consumed, the structure loses cathodic protection. Regular anode consumption surveys allow replacement programmes to be planned in advance, ensuring continuous protection and avoiding the cost of emergency replacements.
