KCC installs steel pipelines in the marine environment for cooling water systems, process pipelines, structural casings, and outfall applications. Steel pipe strings are welded onshore or on the barge deck, coated with anti-corrosion protection, and lowered to the seabed under diver supervision.
KCC's divers guide the pipe into position, confirm seating on pre-installed supports or within the excavated trench, and carry out visual inspection of all field joints and coating. Cathodic protection — sacrificial anodes or connection to an impressed current system — is installed as part of the pipeline package. Post-installation inspection confirms pipeline integrity before commissioning.
Compliance: Welding is carried out to AWS D3.6 (Underwater Welding) or equivalent. Coating and CP systems are specified to NACE/AMPP standards. Diving operations comply with IMCA D 045 and HSE Diving at Work Regulations 1997.
Steel pipelines in the marine environment are exposed to aggressive corrosion and mechanical loading. KCC ensures correct installation, coating integrity, and cathodic protection from day one — reducing the risk of premature failure and costly remedial intervention.
