Petrolatum Tape — Proven Corrosion Protection for Tidal Zone Piles

What We Do: Petrolatum Tape Wrapping

KCC applies petrolatum tape wrapping systems to marine pile surfaces in the tidal and splash zones to provide a durable, long-life corrosion barrier. Petrolatum tape systems are a proven, cost-effective method for protecting piles in the most aggressive corrosion zone.

What We Do

  • Surface preparation of pile surface in tidal zone
  • Application of primer coat to prepared surface
  • Wrapping of petrolatum tape to pile surface with correct overlap
  • Application of outer protection wrap over petrolatum tape
  • Post-application inspection to confirm coverage and adhesion

Why It Matters

The tidal and splash zone is the most aggressive corrosion zone for marine piles — subject to alternating wet and dry conditions, oxygen availability, and wave action. Petrolatum tape provides a proven, durable barrier that significantly extends pile service life.
