24/7 Emergency Marine Salvage Response in Hong Kong Waters

What is Emergency Salvage Response?

KCC provides 24/7 emergency salvage response for vessel casualties, groundings, collisions, and flooding incidents in Hong Kong waters. When a vessel is in distress, time is critical — rapid assessment and intervention can mean the difference between a successful refloating and a total loss. KCC maintains a state of readiness to mobilise a commercial dive team, salvage equipment, and barge support within hours of a call-out.

On arrival at the casualty, KCC's dive supervisor conducts a rapid underwater assessment to determine the extent of flooding, hull damage, and immediate hazards. A salvage plan is developed on-site and agreed with the owner, insurer, and Hong Kong Marine Department before operations commence. KCC's divers then execute the plan — sealing hull openings, injecting compressed air, deploying lifting bags, or beginning wreck sectioning as the situation requires.

KCC works closely with the Hong Kong Marine Department, the Marine Accident Investigation Section (MAIS), and appointed P&I Club surveyors throughout the operation. All emergency response operations are conducted in compliance with IMCA D 045 and HSE Diving at Work Regulations 1997.

What's Included

  • 24/7 emergency call-out — dive team mobilisation within hours
  • Rapid underwater assessment of casualty on arrival
  • On-site salvage plan development and Marine Department notification
  • Hull sealing, compressed air injection, and dewatering
  • Lifting bag deployment for emergency refloating
  • Pollution containment — oil boom deployment and fuel transfer
  • Coordination with P&I Club surveyors and marine insurers
  • Liaison with Hong Kong Marine Department and MAIS
  • Stabilisation of casualty to prevent further sinking or grounding
  • Towing to safe berth following successful refloating

Why This Matters

Marine casualties do not happen on a schedule. KCC's 24/7 emergency salvage response capability ensures that a professional, IMCA-compliant dive team can be on the water quickly — giving the owner and insurer the best possible chance of a successful outcome and minimising the environmental and financial consequences of a marine incident.
