Underwater Recovery of Cargo and Equipment from Marine Casualties

KCC provides diver-led cargo and equipment recovery services for marine casualties, dropped object incidents, and equipment loss events in Hong Kong waters. Our commercial divers locate, assess, and recover cargo, machinery, tools, and valuables from the seabed — working from barge or work boat platforms in depths accessible to surface-supply diving.

KCC's divers assess the condition of the recovered items underwater before rigging, selecting the appropriate lifting method — crane barge, air bags, or direct diver-assisted lift — to minimise further damage during recovery. Fragile or high-value items are packaged underwater before lifting. All recovered items are documented, photographed, and handed over to the owner, insurer, or appointed surveyor on the surface.

For large or complex cargo recovery operations, KCC works alongside marine surveyors, cargo specialists, and crane contractors to develop a recovery methodology that maximises the value of what is recovered while managing the risk to divers and equipment.

Compliance: All diving operations are conducted under IMCA D 045 and HSE Diving at Work Regulations 1997. Operations are coordinated with the Hong Kong Marine Department and insurers as required.
